McDonald & Renouf

Who is McDonald & Renouf?

A chance meeting of two amazing talents at the right time, which spawned a remarkable friendship and the  melding
of complimentary voices and musical abilities.  Both started off in musical families with fathers who  played and
loved to hear their little girls sing.  From this came a natural aspiration to music, the development of  voice and
attention to the wondrous tones of supportive harmony.  The combination of the two produces sound  from the
heart, which is not a learned talent.  Music  from the heart and soul that will move you, should, you ever  have the
experience to hear them.

The forming of McDonald & Renouf in early 2003 has been the realization of personal goals for both Cindy and
Cathy.  Together, McDonald & Renouf can entertain most any crowd with traditional hits from the 60’s to Millennium
and on, adding their own unique style to every tune.  Two acoustic guitars and two exceptional voices  will take you
to a place you may never have been.

Two wonderfully talented ladies!

This is McDonald & Renouf as I know them.

                         Cindy McDonald
Cindy McDonald, originates from the Village of Manotick just south of Ottawa, where in her early years studied piano and
soon after, picked up the guitar, which became an integral part of her personal life and development of  musical talent.  To
her, the guitar was like American Express, “don’t leave home without it”.  For a number of  years in western Canada she
played countless social gatherings, weddings and numerous open forums at local  establishments.  With her return to
Manotick in the early 90’s the trend continued, including performances with  local jamborees, Christian groups and
organizations sponsoring amateur talent.  Through the years she has collected hundreds of songs and developed her
own style of playing and voice.
Cathy Renouf
Cathy Renouf hails from the big city off Montreal but from a family background deeply rooted in Newfoundland.  Her
family are all players and/or singers of varying styles of music, each with their own personal way of expressing their
talent.  She has always had music as a part of her life, performing in variety shows  throughout her school years as well
as a wide circuit of country and blue grass festivals through eastern Ontario  and Western Quebec.  Her vocal abilities
found her in the Ottawa area in the mid 90’s singing lead and support  vocals for a semi-professional country rock
group, performing in many local venues including the Corel Center,  opening for groups such as Trooper, Nazareth
and Tom Cochrane.  Recently she has re-polished her playing  skills on the guitar to compliment her singing and
composing of a dozen or more original songs.
